UNMUTED: Abi Else on Creativity, Fair Creator Rates, and Why Paying on Time Isn’t Optional

The Senior Influencer Marketing & Talent Manager at INTHEKNOW Global on the green flags she looks for in talent, why creator rates deserve more respect, and staying calm when things get stressful.

Welcome back to Unmuted – The Talent Times’ series shining a light on the talent managers behind some of the biggest names in the creator space.

Each week we sit down with the people working behind the scenes to get their honest takes on everything from deal-making and signings to the everyday realities of a job most people still don’t quite understand.

This week we spoke with Abi Else, Senior Influencer Marketing & Talent Manager at INTHEKNOW Global.

Let’s get into it!

One thing you can’t get through a day without?

My phones (work and personal) – I’m a bit of a workaholic!

Green flags when signing a talent?

Creativity, ambition and consistency

The biggest ick when negotiating brand deals?

Probably when brands don’t consider the external factors that go into creators’ rates like the time it takes them to create content, their audience engagement and their influence/expertise!

A talent you think is going to blow up in the next 12 months?

I’ve just started working with @byhannahemily and her growth has just been going up and up, so I’m really excited to see where she’ll be in 12 months!

What does your FYP look like?

I have the biggest mix of content on my FYP – from beauty and home to comedy and personal finance – and of course, the odd dog video as I have a puppy so can’t help watch every dog video I see!

Right now I’m obsessed with…

My dog – he’s the best (and lowkey part of my personality)

The biggest misconception my family/friends have about my job is…

I just get fun products and get to go to cool events (…I wish haha!!)

Something everyone working in this industry needs to hear…

Paying on time isn’t optional, it should be mandatory!!

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

It’s PR not ER – there will always be a solution even in the height of stressful situations!

If Abi’s Unmuted taught us anything, it’s that great talent management comes down to backing creative, ambitious and consistent talent, making sure creators are valued — and paid on time — and remembering that there’s always a solution, however stressful things get.
