Welcome back to Unmuted โ The Talent Times’ series shining a light on the talent managers behind some of the biggest names in the creator space.
Each week we sit down with the people working behind the scenes to get their honest takes on everything from deal-making and signings to the everyday realities of a job most people still don’t quite understand.
This week we spoke with Amy Newman, Senior Talent Manager at FARQ.
Let’s get into it!
Q. One thing you can't get through a day without?
Coffee and my steps to get the coffee! Always aiming for 10k a day!
Q. Green flags when signing a talent?
Someone who is taking their socials seriously as a business and are already manifesting bigger dreams.
Q. The biggest ick when negotiating brand deals?
Where do I startโฆ probably when the creatorโs work isnโt being valued enough and any brand asking for rights for life- ICK!
Q. What type of content do you like to consume on social media / what does your FYP look like?
I am a granny at heart so my heart will always be on the OG Instagram! My FYP right now is mostly millennial memes, fitness and holidays!
Q. The biggest misconception my family/friends have about my job is...
That I should monetise my own socials- NOT A CHANCE! It’s such a hard job and people do underestimate it!
Q: Something everyone working in this industry needs to hearโฆ
I am a huge advocate for celebrating everyone’s success- so be the biggest Cheer Leader and shout about your own achievements as well as the people around you!
Q. The best piece of advice I've ever been given is...
Relationships change and go through different stages to get to the best outcome together you have to go through the โstormsโ the โnormsโ and then you can โperformโ
If Amy’s Unmuted taught us anything, it’s that the best talent managers are the ones cheering loudest for their talent, their colleagues, and the industry as a whole. You can find out more about Amy and the team at FARQ.
