YouTube launches Creator Voices initiative to give UK’s digital creators a stronger voice

Creators are building businesses, shaping culture and influencing millions. But are the creative industries recognising them quickly enough?

A group of some of the UK’s leading digital-first talent and industry figures has come together to launch Creator Voices – a new alliance aiming to strengthen the recognition and representation of content creators across the UK’s creative industries.

Supported by YouTube UK – and launched officially at this week’s YouTube Festival – Creator Voices has been established with the ambition of giving creators a collective platform to speak directly about the opportunities and challenges facing the sector — while pushing for greater recognition of creators as entrepreneurs, storytellers and media business owners.

The founding cohort includes creators and leading industry figures including Jordan Schwarzenberger, Grace Andrews, Brandon B, DamienTalksMoney, Jade Beason, TLDR News and Santiago Vazquez.

Together, the group represents millions of viewers across the UK and beyond, with its members operating across areas including entertainment, news, finance, lifestyle and digital media.

The launch comes as the economic contribution of the creator economy continues to grow, alongside the continuing contrasting question about how effectively creators are recognised within the wider creative industries.

According to the 2025 Oxford Economics Impact Report, unveiled at YouTube Festival, YouTube’s creator ecosystem contributed £2.8 billion to UK GDP, representing a 25% year-on-year increase. It also supported more than 60,000 full-time equivalent jobs.

The report also found that 75% of creators with careers in media and entertainment traced their roots back to YouTube, highlighting the increasingly important role digital platforms are playing in developing the UK’s wider creative talent pipeline.

For Creator Voices, however, the economic contribution is only part of the picture.

A separate 2025 YouTube Creator Consultation found that 43% of digital creators felt their contribution was not yet sufficiently recognised by the wider creative sector.

That disconnect is one of the issues the new alliance is looking to address.

As creators increasingly move beyond producing content to building companies, launching products, developing intellectual property and creating their own media businesses, Creator Voices aims to encourage closer collaboration between the creator economy and the more established creative industries.

The ambition is also to give creators a greater role in conversations that directly affect the future of the sector.

The launch reflects a wider shift in how digital talent is being viewed. The creator is no longer necessarily just the person appearing in front of the camera. Increasingly, they can also be the founder, producer, publisher, executive and owner of the business behind the content.

That evolution is already changing the relationship between creators and traditional industries including television, publishing, advertising, music and entertainment.

Creator Voices is clearly positioning itself as a collective voice within that transition – bringing together creators who are already operating at significant scale and using their combined reach and influence to push for greater recognition of the sector’s cultural and economic impact.

With the creator economy continuing to develop rapidly, the question is increasingly less about whether creators belong within the creative industries and more about how the two worlds work together.

Creator Voices is aiming to make sure creators have a seat at that table.
